Baby Care Instructions
Congratulations on Your Adoption!
You have chosen a high quality artist reborn by Heather Murray of Coastal Cuties Nursery. I hope your new baby brings years of enjoyment to you and yours.
Most importantly, baby is not a play doll. If cared for properly, baby is now an heirloom, quality collectible and needs to be handled very gently. Small children should not be permitted to play with baby. A good rule of thumb for handling the baby is that you should not handle the baby in any way you not handle a real newborn infant.
Baby should be kept away from extreme heat and cold. Heat is more dangerous for baby because vinyl becomes very soft and pliable when heated and can become warped or even melt. Baby should never left in a hot car or displayed near any type of heat source. Baby should be kept away from excessive moisture, which can cause damage to blushing and the cloth body.
Baby’s hair is either micro-rooted, painted or both. If baby’s hair is rooted, I have used a very tiny German needle, threading the hair into the scalp one at a time. There are literally thousands of tiny follicles! Hair can be gently damped and styled. Occasional light dusting may be necessary, and gentle shampoo w/ baby shampoo is ok too. The hair has been sealed inside using permanent glue.
It is ok to style the baby’s hair using barrettes, but please do not pull on the hair excessively. You may also style baby’s hair using light sprits of spray gel but usually sprits of water works just as well. If the hair is micro-painted, I have used a teeny paint brush and hand applied thousands of individual hand painted hair follicles. The hair appears to be growing right out of the scalp! Baby’s hair was then sealed using a permanent, heat set sealer so baby’s hair will always look gorgeous!
Baby wears real baby clothing. Depending on your new baby’s size, different clothing will fit. Most likely you will choose preemie, 0-3 months or newborn sizes. Most of my baby’s wear a 0 or 1 shoe.
Care should be taken when posing your new baby. The arms and legs are jointed which allows baby to be gently posed, but the limbs should never forced. Extreme pressure on the seams/joints of the body can cause tearing and breakage. Baby’s head can gently be turned from side to side, but again, it should not be forced.
Baby’s lips and nails are sealed in for protection, but they can be chipped with force. As always, take care!
If baby is ever in need of repair of any sort (providing you have treated baby according to the care instructions on these sheets), I offer a free unique repair service for the first year of your adoption.
